Worldcoin boasts new users every 9 seconds in Argentina during survey
- Worldcoin’s popularity in Argentina soared in August, with new signups occurring every nine seconds.
- The project’s spheres in four Argentine cities verified the global IDs of more than 9,500 citizens per day.
- The growth of the project in Argentina remains strong despite continued scrutiny of the operations of local institutions.
Worldcoin has seen a significant increase in popularity and demand in Argentina. Last month, the ambitious cryptocurrency project launched by ChatGPT founder Sam Altman had its best month to date in the US, with new users arriving every nine seconds. Worldcoin’s growth in Argentina appears to be unaffected by ongoing investigations into the company’s operations by local authorities.

In a blog post published earlier today, Worldcoin described Argentina as one of the world’s leading countries for innovation and cryptocurrency adoption, adding that August had been a fairly successful month. The project surpassed a significant milestone after verifying the global IDs of 9,500 Argentines in one day, setting a new daily record for Orb verifications.
World ID, a global identity protocol supported by the Worldcoin ecosystem, has reportedly seen increased demand in Argentina over the past month. World ID uses Proof of Person (PoP) credentials issued by Orb, a biometric scanning device that scans the retina of new users.
Alex Blania, co-founder of Worldcoin and CEO of parent company Tools for Humanity, participated in the Ethereum Argentina mainnet stage earlier this month. When asked about the company’s success in Argentina, Blania said Argentines have a better understanding of the fundamental principles of cryptocurrency. He added that Argentina overall is one of the most cryptocurrency-oriented countries in the world.
“This combination of a very technologically advanced country in general and a country leading in cryptocurrency specifically creates an explosive building block for the next wave of innovation in this space.”

Worldcoin’s Orbs are currently available in four cities in Argentina: Buenos Aires, Mar del Plata, Córdoba, and Mendoza. The project has gained popularity in the country despite ongoing scrutiny from the Agency for Access to Public Information (AAIP) over the handling of sensitive data.
