Litecoin.com hacked

It appears that the official Litecoin.com website was hacked and was offering virus-infected downloads. So, if you have downloaded anything from there in the past few weeks, you may need to take action to avoid losing your coins. The other official website where most people download the LTC wallet software Litecoin.org was not affected and if you have downloaded anything from this website in the past few weeks you should be fine. Here is the official announcement regarding the .COM website issue:

Litecoin.com was compromised between March 31 and April 18 and remains compromised until today. The site was using Javascript injection to offer virus-infected downloads for Windows and OSX. The attack occurred due to a database misconfiguration, which allowed someone to enter malicious JS into the template.

Anyone who has downloaded from LITECOIN.COM (not litecoin.org) in the last two weeks should move their coins to a safe place and wipe their computer as soon as possible. Most antiviruses won’t detect this!

An attacker may have stolen your passwords, so change all your passwords as soon as possible.

It looks like the issues with the Litecoin.com website have been resolved and the site is already back online.
