Bitmain launches new L7 Mining ASIC.

Bitmain, the largest provider of professional ASIC cryptocurrency mining hardware, announced the launch of new L7 Scrypt-based mining hardware at an event held in Chengdu, China on June 19.

Reporter Colin Wu, who attended the event, reported. The new L7 is said to have a hash rate of 9500 MH/s, a 19-fold increase over the previous generation L3+ released in 2017. It requires a 3425W power supply, so it runs at an efficiency of 0.36 Joules/MH, and has a reported cost of 100,000 yen, or ~$15,000, but a 13% discount is available for international purchases. According to Coinwarz, with an electricity unit price of $0.1 per KWH, L7’s profitability is about $100 per day based on the current market value of Litecoin and Dogecoin (which is merge-mined with Litecoin).

The expected delivery date for this new hardware is November 2021.
