Who will receive Alaska’s $1,312 stimulus check in March?

Some Alaskans could soon receive $1,312 stimulus checks this month. The Alaska stimulus comes from the Alaska Permanent Fund Dividend (PFD), which invests the state’s oil revenues. Stimulus checks will go to residents who have already applied and meet the requirements of the PFD.

Alaska economic stimulus package expected timing and application method

Alaska’s Permanent Fund dividend aims to distribute a portion of the state’s natural resource wealth to the state’s residents. However, not all Alaska residents will receive stimulus payments. Rather, the money only goes to those who meet certain requirements.

The state is currently sending stimulus checks to applicants in 2023. The first round of payments was made on February 7th to those in ‘eligible-not-paid’ status.

The second round of payments will be made in March to those who were in ‘eligible non-payment’ status as of March 13. This means the next Alaska stimulus check is scheduled to go out on March 21st. It is scheduled for April, and will be paid to those who are in ‘target-non-payment’ status as of April 10th.

In addition to the Alaska stimulus package, the state is also accepting applications for the 2024 program. Applications for the program opened early this year, and the application submission deadline is March 31. The size of the economic stimulus subsidy varies every year depending on the fund performance.

Residents can apply online or through a paper application. An online application is available on the PFD website, and paper applications are available at PFD offices and hundreds of distribution locations throughout the state.

Submitting online is the easiest way to apply to the program. Those who have submitted an application will receive a confirmation number after submission. Applicants can check the status of their application by going to myPFD.

It is important that applicants list their current address on their application. Anyone applying online must log into myPFD to update their address. Alternatively, applicants may use a change of address form and submit it to one of the agency’s offices.

Eligibility Requirements for Alaska Permanent Fund Distributions

To be eligible for a 2024 Alaska stimulus payment, applicants must be Alaska residents and intend to reside permanently in the state. Additionally, applicants must not have been out of the state for more than 180 days and must be physically present in the state for at least 72 consecutive hours in 2022 or 2023.

Another requirement is that applicants must not have claimed residency in another state or country and must not have been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor.

In 2023, Alaska processed 8,000 more applications than in 2022. The PFD is estimated to inject about $1 billion back into the state’s economy. The 2023 PFD payments mark 42 years since the state shared its natural resource wealth with residents.
