Blackburn served as U.S. Representative for Tennessee’s 7th District from 2003 to 2019 and began his term in the Senate from 2019 to the present. Blackburn is currently the state’s senior senator and chairman of Tennessee’s congressional delegation. In 2022, Blackburn co-sponsored an amendment to the Cybersecurity Information Sharing Act of 2015 with Bitcoin supporter Senator Lummis (R-WY). The amendment sought to expand voluntary data reporting by cryptocurrency companies to facilitate the industry’s identification and response to cybersecurity threats.
