dTelecom integrates with peaq with DePIN for Web3 video streaming.

Decentralized communications platform dTelecom has announced its move to peaq, a pioneering blockchain platform dedicated to decentralized private networks (DePIN) and machine real assets (RWA).

This transition in the Arbitrum ecosystem represents a significant leap forward in leveraging blockchain technology to solve the inherent problems of centralized streaming services.

As video streaming becomes increasingly important for entertainment, business, and personal communication, platforms like Netflix, Twitch, and various video conferencing tools have become staples in our homes.

Netflix boasts more than 260 million global subscribers, while Twitch has 240 million monthly users, highlighting the vast reach and potential of streaming technology. However, the centralized nature of these services raises urgent concerns about security, censorship, and transparency.

To address these challenges, dTelecom is pioneering a decentralized approach to video and audio streaming that aims to empower users and developers by decentralizing control from central authorities.

Leveraging community-operated nodes, dTelecom’s DePIN facilitates the decentralized distribution of live audio and video content, providing a powerful alternative to existing centralized protocols.

The partnership with peaq is the cornerstone of this initiative and dTelecom plans to leverage peaq’s layer 1 blockchain as the underlying infrastructure.

The collaboration will see dTelecom’s core business logic deployed on peaq, along with the integration of peaq’s software development kit (SDK) and decentralized identity (peaq ID) for a more secure and scalable streaming solution.

Petr Malyukov, co-founder of dTelecom We envision a wide range of applications for the technology, from decentralized versions of popular platforms like Discord and Netflix to innovative use cases like Web3 streaming services and voice chat for play-to-revenue gaming.

“With Peakaq as our secure and scalable backbone, we are ready to disrupt multi-billion dollar centralized markets,” Malyukov said, emphasizing the potential of decentralized streaming to be a game-changer for numerous services.

As part of the migration to peaq, dTelecom will transition smart contracts on the Arbitrum testnet, introduce a reward distribution mechanism, and facilitate the migration and onboarding of nodes on the peaq network.

The plan will conclude with a token creation event, which will launch dTelecom’s native token on Peak and further solidify its position within the DePIN ecosystem.

Peak co-founder Till Wendler said: Live streaming was cited as an attractive application for DePIN with significant market potential.

“I am confident that dTelecom will create significant value within the peak ecosystem and I eagerly look forward to its role in transforming live streaming as we know it,” Wendler said in a statement shared with AlexaBlockchain.
