Mina and o1Labs have teamed up with Celestia to provide easy-to-use developer tools to securely extend zkApp.
The Mina Foundation, along with o1Labs, has partnered strategically with Celestia and Geometry Research to streamline the development of zero-knowledge applications (zkApps) and enhance the capabilities of the Mina protocol. The goal of the joint effort is to leverage cutting-edge research and expertise in cryptographic proofs to integrate Celestia’s modular data availability (DA) layer with the Mina protocol.
This collaboration marks an important milestone as the Mina ecosystem prepares for a major mainnet upgrade that will enable zkApp programmability.
As the potential of zkApps in solving critical problems such as data protection, scalability, and identity authentication is gaining traction, Celestia’s modular DA layer integration paves the way for higher throughput and improved functionality within the Mina developer toolkit. It is expected that it will be opened.
Kurt Hemecker, CEO of Mina Foundation, emphasized the importance of simplifying the developer experience of building zkApps.
“Breaking down these barriers is a top priority, and adding these highly requested features to the Mina developer toolkit will significantly enhance the scope and functionality of the zkApp builder in Mina,” said Hemecker.
The integration of Celestia’s DA layer with Mina’s zero-knowledge native blockchain opens up new possibilities for projects looking to verify large amounts of off-chain data and scale users.

Brandon Kase, CEO of o1Labs, highlighted the potential to simplify zkApp development. “This Celestia integration has the power to significantly enhance the functionality of zkApps,” said Kase.
Plans are already underway to leverage modular DA layers to scale operations in the zero-knowledge space. Zeko Protocol, a cross-chain zero-knowledge scaling protocol built on Mina, which recently raised a $3 million pre-seed funding round, aims to leverage improved data availability to power the next generation of zkApps that will shape the future of decentralized finance. Let’s do it. AI, games, internet.
