Tevaera has raised $5 million in seed and private funding.

zkSync game development company Tevaera has raised $5 million in fresh seed and private funding.

Laser Digital and Nomura Group co-led the round, with Hashkey Capital, Fenbushi Capital, Matter Labs, Draper Dragon, Crypto.com Capital, Cogitent Ventures, Faculty Group, DWF Labs, Morningstar Ventures, DCF God, Momentum, GBV, Selini, Mapleblock, Coinswitch, GD10 Capital, Aquanow, etc.

Tevaera plans to use the funds to grow its team and launch a layer 3 game chain on zkSync, with the ultimate goal of having 2 million players and 12 game developers join Tevaera by the end of the year. Gav Negi, co-founder of the company, said: he told the block.

“Initially, it was very difficult to get the project off the ground and become cash flow positive through a bear market,” Negi added. “This funding is an important milestone for zkSync as it accelerates our roadmap to build a one-stop gaming ecosystem based on the ZK Stack.”

Tevaera offers web3 games such as the fantasy strategy game “Guardian Islands” and the multiplayer racing game “Teva Run”, as well as an NFT marketplace and decentralized exchange. Tevaera has more than 850,000 gamers and nearly 2.5 million utility NFTs, according to the company’s website.

Tevaera has launched mainnet zkSync Era, a layer 2 protocol that uses zero-knowledge proofs to batch and record transactions on Ethereum. zkSync Era is also a protocol using zero-knowledge proofs that is compatible with zkEVM, the Ethereum Virtual Machine, a software framework that powers numerous applications on Ethereum. zkSync Era is one of the tools of the ZK Stack, a blockchain-centric technology stack that uses zero-knowledge proofs.

“With the launch of zkSync Era, the first zkEVM, we envision a comprehensive gaming ecosystem that makes it easy to build, run, and play web3 games, delivering a player-first experience.” Tevaera wrote In a social media post Wednesday.
