MapMetrics fully migrates Web3 Navigation dApps to peaq.

MapMetrics, a Web3 drive-to-revenue navigation application, announced its strategic decision to migrate its entire platform to peaq, a layer 1 blockchain known as Decentralized Precision Infrastructure Network (DePIN) and Machine Real-World Assets (RWA).

The move marks a significant shift for MapMetrics, which initially built its infrastructure on Solana. Last year, MapMetrics started integrating peaq for some features and functionality. However, recognizing the unparalleled potential of the peaq ecosystem, the company has now decided to fully migrate its platform to peaq, with the goal of leveraging the advanced features offered by the peaq blockchain.

At the heart of MapMetrics’ innovative approach is a commitment to user empowerment. Unlike traditional navigation apps that leverage user-generated data without providing rewards, MapMetrics introduces a groundbreaking model that allows drivers to earn rewards for utilizing navigation dApps. This new concept has proven popular with more than 55,000 installations across 177 countries.

And through strategic partnerships, such as our collaboration with Microsoft to enhance Bing Maps, MapMetrics has proven its ability to transform the navigation experience.

The decision to migrate to peaq represents a logical evolution for MapMetrics. MapMetrics aims to improve the efficiency and reliability of its services by leveraging peaq’s robust infrastructure, including modular DePIN functionality and DePIN-friendly economic model.

Commenting on the migration, MapMetrics co-founder Brent van der Heiden emphasized the importance of aligning with networks that prioritize reliability and scalability.

“As one of the first players in the DePIN space, we need a network with reliable transactions, machine data verification, and a synergistic DePIN-centric ecosystem,” van der Heiden said. “peaq gives us all this and more, allowing us to take MapMetrics to new levels.”

Echoing this sentiment, peaq co-founder Till Wendler emphasized the pivotal role of navigation services in the physical industry.

The migration to Peak is expected to unfold in several stages, including smart contract deployment, token issuance, and interface updates.
