Chirp Network integrates with peaq to provide decentralized connectivity to smart devices globally.
Telecom innovator Chirp Network has teamed up with peaq, a layer 1 blockchain for DePIN and Machine RWA.
The partnership aims to provide a decentralized backbone for IoT devices globally, leveraging Chirp Network’s expertise in building integrated, multi-protocol decentralized connectivity networks.
Already present in 33 countries, Chirp’s flagship “Blackbird” gateway provides connectivity to numerous IoT hardware through a variety of channels, including LoRaWAN, LoRa 2.4GHz, BLE, and more. Combined with Chirp’s LTE network, these gateways can seamlessly connect devices around the world, facilitating easy data exchange across borders.
In particular, through its collaboration with peaq, Chirp Network will play a pivotal role in giving Decentralized Programmable IoT Nodes (DePIN) a reliable and versatile means of connecting smart devices to the global network through major Internet of Things (IoT) protocols. .
Till Wendler, co-founder of peaq, emphasized the importance of decentralized connectivity for DePIN.
“The integration of peaq and Chirp unlocks critical functionality for every DePIN in the ecosystem, allowing devices around the world to communicate over human-owned networks,” Wendler said.
This integration heralds a significant milestone for the burgeoning DePIN ecosystem, promising improved interoperability and accessibility for IoT devices.
“Chirp’s agnostic approach to wireless protocols will help DePIN builders bring a record number of IoT devices on-chain,” Wendler said.
XMAQUINA, the project behind the world’s first fully autonomous tokenized robot cafe, plans to pioneer DePIN in the peaq ecosystem to leverage the Chirp Network’s connectivity layer. XMAQUINA’s tokenized robot barista, recently unveiled at the TOKEN2049 conference in Dubai, uses Chirp’s IoT connectivity layer to connect with peaq and seamlessly exchange data with the blockchain to facilitate autonomous operations.
Additionally, Chirp Network will expand its connectivity services to other notable projects within the peaq ecosystem, including ELOOP and Silencio. ELOOP, a platform that enables tokenized investments in DePIN, will leverage Chirp’s connectivity through the peaq network, and Silencio, peaq’s DePIN, which incentivizes users with cryptocurrency to collect local noise pollution data, will also leverage Chirp’s connectivity. You will benefit from our strong infrastructure.
As part of the integration, Chirp Network will build an endpoint layer for peaq’s devices, enabling seamless communication with the blockchain. Chirp will also introduce APIs to provide greater flexibility to developers and launch data processing services tailored to DePIN devices that use SIM cards, such as smartphones and tablets.
“Achieving true decentralization is no easy task. Integration with Peaq will bring DePIN building in the ecosystem one step closer. Ultimately, we will end up with a world where the infrastructure backbone is run by users rather than big tech companies,” Tim Kravchunovsky, founder of Chirp Network, said in a statement. .
The collaboration between Chirp Network and peaq represents a significant step forward in realizing the full potential of decentralized connectivity for IoT devices, promising a future where the infrastructure backbone is democratized and controlled by the users themselves.
