The mobile game Bitcoin Miner, one of the most popular Play-to-Ern games that pays you real Bitcoin while you play, has launched a new kind of limited-time event that will be available for approximately the next 24 hours at the time of this writing.
The “Diggy” event held during the week is different No, you’re not mining cryptocurrency with super-powerful computers, you’re digging into the ground to discover resources. This is another kind of side diversion from the mostly idle main game, giving you something else to do while earning more bitcoins and other useful in-game items.
Diggy debuted a couple of weeks ago and is planned to be a weekly event, similar to how the game always offers some kind of rocket-building weekend event.
Fumb Games skipped last week’s event to work out a few bugs and improve the mode, but they’re bringing it back starting today to give players something a little different from their typical mining experience.
In Diggy, you dig straight into the ground using a limited number of moves at any given time. Since you don’t have unlimited movement, you’ll want to prioritize destroying blocks that provide resources, such as upgrade points that increase your speed or pickaxes that give you more movement. You can then respawn more pickaxes to come back and dig deeper.
There’s a very light strategic component to this, but don’t worry. Like the rest of Bitcoin Miner, most of the experience is very simple and is meant to be a fun crypto-themed distraction that pays out satoshis here and there. . (A satoshi is the smallest unit of Bitcoin, i.e. 1/100,000,000 BTC.)
According to Paul West, founder and CEO of Fumb Games, Diggy was born out of the results of a Twitter poll late last year asking players what they most wanted to add. In the survey, players chose a way to earn new types of events as the second most requested option among others. So Diggy is an attempt to satisfy both desires of its player base.
In addition to the Bitcoins you can earn through playing, you can also find a pixelated Piggy Jr. at the bottom of the mine. Players who rescue a character will receive a 10-20% increase in in-game coin income for the next week.
If you’re already in the habit of tapping Bitcoin Miner on iOS or Android every day, you may want to consider investing that time into the Diggy game the next day. Something a little different that could liven up your play next week.
