AMD launches new AI chips to take on rival Nvidia By Investing.com

Investing.com– Advanced Micro Devices Inc (NASDAQ:) unveiled a new line of artificial intelligence chips at the Computex 2024 forum on Sunday. This comes a day after rival NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:) unveiled its next-generation chips that will power AI. Development.

AMD unveiled its new flagship AI chip, the MI325X accelerator, scheduled for release in the fourth quarter of 2024, and also announced a new Ryzen CPU version for AI development in laptops and desktops.

AMD also unveiled a new AI chip series, MI350, which will be released in 2025.

The company is Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:) and zoom video communications Inc (NASDAQ:) integrates more AI features into home appliances.

AMD’s announcement comes just hours after rival and market leader Nvidia unveiled its next-generation AI chips. The new chip architecture is called “Rubin” and comes even as the company’s current architecture, called “Blackwell”, is still in production and scheduled for release in late 2024.

AMD is struggling to catch up with Nvidia, which has controlled about 80% of the global AI chip market over the past year. The latter has also seen its valuation soar more than threefold over the past year as its revenue has benefited significantly from rising demand for AI.

AMD also doubled in valuation this year, but lagged far behind Nvidia in valuation and revenue.
