Elite Bored Ape NFT goes up for auction at Sotheby’s
Sotheby’s, one of the world’s oldest auction houses, is hosting this event. Auction on June 18th Featuring Ethereum-based collections Bored Ape Non-Fungible Token (NFT).
The highlight of the auction is Ape #8552, a Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) NFT known for its unique features; Includes leather biker vest and sushi chef headband.
This special NFT is not only made of solid gold fur. The previous owner, the now bankrupt Three Arrows Capital (3AC). This once-leading cryptocurrency hedge fund collapsed during the 2022 market downturn.

Along with Ape #8552, the auction includes: 2 gold NFTs from the Mutant Ape Yacht Club (MAYC) collection and an NFT from the Bored Ape Kennel Club (BAKC); All originate from Yuga Labs.
MAYC is Spin-off NFT collection Released in 2021, it consists of up to 20,000 Mutant Apes, which can be produced by converting existing Bored Apes with “Mutant Serum” or by casting new Mutant Apes during public sales. Meanwhile, BAKC offers dog NFTs.
The lowest price for the cheapest Bored Ape is around $47,000. but, Apes with golden fur are especially rare. Only 46 of 10,000 were issued, so the price is much higher. The last golden monkey sold for nearly $940,000.
Therefore, this auction promises to be an important event for NFT collectors, showcasing priceless pieces from BAYC and related collections.
Sotheby’s has a history of successful auctions involving properties previously owned by 3AC. Last year, a work of art by Dmitri Cherniak known as “The Goose” from the Ringers collection sold for $6.2 million.
