OverProtocol Announces Open Beta Testnet and Community Incentives for Participation

December 12, 2023, Seoul, South Korea, Chainwire

OverProtocol, a layer 1 blockchain focused on democratizing verification, has exciting plans for the next year, including a mainnet launch in the first half of the year. Last October, we successfully completed a closed beta testnet with 15,000 applicants from 127 countries, of which 1,300 completed all tests. In preparation for the mainnet launch, they have now announced an open beta testnet and an incentive program that is open to everyone.

Community-driven release plan

The project will initiate airdrops through the OverProtocol Community Airdrop Program (OCAP) to build a strong community. The path to the airdrop unfolds through two important quests. The first quest, already active on OverWallet, demonstrating OverProtocol’s mobile-centric vision, has generated significant engagement. More than 4.7 million users have signed up in the last six months, and more than 1 million users are actively participating in the mission every month. Meanwhile, the second quest invites users to participate in OverProtocol by running a validator via OverNode on the open beta testnet.

Open Beta Testnet (OBT)

The open beta testnet will be divided into two seasons, OBT Season 1, which will run from December 13th to 22nd, and OBT Season 2, scheduled for February next year. During the testnet period, participants can experience Home Staking by running nodes and validators at home through OverNode, and also learn about Ethanos, a core feature of OverProtocol. The total points accumulated for both seasons will be taken into consideration when determining the airdrop amount. Anyone can participate in OBT Season 1, but only those with enough OverWallet points can complete key missions. OBT Season 2 also has points requirements, so if you’re interested in OverProtocol, download OverWallet and join the OverProtocol community.

OBT Season 1 Information

Please follow these essential steps:

  1. Download OverNode Client: This is the first and important step. Download and install the OverNode client on your computer to complete the mission.
  2. Complete the mission: To complete your mission effectively, follow the structured instructions provided within the OverNode client.

Pioneers must also:

  • Follow X’s official OverNode channel: Follow our official channels to stay updated on all announcements and important information during the testnet period.
  • Access OverNode on the official website: OverNode will be available for download from the official website starting December 13 at 02:00 UTC.
  • Know the types of missions: An overview of the seven types of missions is provided in the official Medium article. It is designed to help users understand and participate effectively in each mission type.

Overprotocol’s vision

OverProtocol is a new layer 1 blockchain based on a protocol called ‘Ethanos’ that only considers active accounts as valid, allowing full nodes to delete old data and operate with less storage, thus reducing storage requirements. Superblock, a key contributor to the project, is developing ‘OverNode’, a full node client that will allow anyone to run a full node of OverProtocol and become a validator from their home PC.

“By allowing anyone to run a validator, individuals have the opportunity to earn $OVER through a process called home staking. This allows them to embrace a new lifestyle that offers new payment options, improved credit and innovative financial opportunities,” added Ben, CEO of Superblock.

Introduction to Overprotocol

OverProtocol is a layer 1 blockchain network that strives to foster a truly decentralized ecosystem, where anyone can act as a validator. Utilizing ‘Ethanos’, an innovative node optimization technology, we enable individuals to run full nodes on their home desktops. With a vision of decentralization, OverProtocol seeks to put the power of the new Internet in your hands.
