What are wormholes ($W) and monads?
Wormholes are a basic system that helps different blockchains communicate with each other. Wormhole’s main features include:
- message passing protocol: Wormhole is a general protocol that facilitates communication between different blockchains to enable interoperability.
- Cross-chain application: Developers can create cross-chain applications by leveraging the strengths of multiple blockchain ecosystems.
- Non-blockchain entities: The wormhole itself is not a blockchain. Instead, it acts as a bridge for passing messages between blockchains or rollups.
- Ecosystem support: The protocol supports more and more blockchains and encourages developers to participate in the ecosystem.
Meanwhile, Monad is one of the largest valued projects to date, valued at $3 billion in 2024. It is also one of the first projects to collaborate and integrate with Wormhole to provide day 1 cross-chain support. Therefore, wormhole staking is likely to become a key criterion for obtaining Monad airdrops.
How do I receive the Wormhole ($W) token airdrop?
Here’s how to get a potential Wormhole ($W) token airdrop:
- Connect to wormhole
Go to https://www.tally.xyz/gov/wormhole and connect your wallet.
- Start staking
Click “Stake for Governance” and “Start” to begin the staking process. Choose to delegate to yourself or to another staker. If you want to actively participate in governance, delegate to yourself. Otherwise, choose an active agency like BlockWorks Research. Then confirm and proceed to the next step.
- Transfer at Solana
If you have a Wormhole ($W) token on a supported EVM network, you can skip this step. This is because Wormhole $W is Solana’s SPL token. So if you want to stake you need to connect it to Ethereum Layer 2 or Ethereum. However, you may want to avoid using Ethereum due to its high fees. Instead, choose Layer 2, such as Base Mainnet (preferred), Arbitrum, or Optimism. To bridge, connect your base mainnet wallet and Solana wallet and follow the steps to complete the bridge process. It will take approximately 2-3 minutes for the tokens to appear in MetaMask’s default wallet.
- Staking confirmation (time sensitive)
Once you have Wormhole ($W) tokens in your default wallet, check out Staking for Governance. Please complete by 11:59 PM UTC on June 10, 2024.
- Earn at least 40 points in Nomis
Nomis is a protocol that allows users to build and build a Web3 reputation. You will need at least 40 points in Nomis for the next level. This is to weed out Sybil farmers. To earn points on Nomis, connect your wallet to https://nomis.cc/multichain and click “Get Points”.
- Mint Score by Nomis
To generate a score in Nomis, click “Mint Score”. Requires 8 MATIC to generate a score.
- Get the Steakorrr role
Go to Wormhole’s Galxe page and click on the “Steakorrr” action. If you complete Step 4 by 11:59 PM UTC on June 10, 2024, you can potentially qualify for the Steakorrr Discord role. Please note that these Discord roles are also available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
- Galxe work done
Complete other tasks on the Galxe page in Wormhole. This includes earning at least level 1 in your Galxe Web3 Humanity score and following Wormhole’s social media accounts.
- Join Wormhole’s Discord channel
Wormhole’s Discord channel has a social credits system where you can earn roles through participation.
