CDK Global temporarily shuts down all systems while investigating cyber incident By Reuters
(Reuters) – Retail technology and software provider CDK Global (NASDAQ:) said on Wednesday it was investigating a cyber incident and had proactively temporarily shut down all of its systems.
The company, which provides software to car dealerships, said its core dealer management system and digital retail solutions have been restored. It was revealed that after the incident, testing and consultations were conducted with external third-party experts.
“We continue to conduct extensive testing on all other applications and will provide updates when we bring them back online,” CDK said in an emailed statement to Reuters.
CDK’s systems first went down at 2 a.m. EDT (0600 GMT), with some functions starting to come back online Wednesday afternoon, according to a report by Bloomberg News.
The company was acquired by investment firm Brookfield Business Partners (NYSE:) in April 2022 for $6.41 billion in an all-cash transaction that took the last major publicly traded software provider to auto dealers and manufacturers private. .
“We are aware of the reported CDK outage and are currently assessing the impact on Ford dealers,” Ford Motor (NYSE:) told Reuters in an emailed statement.
General Motors (NYSE:) and BMW (DE:) did not immediately respond to Reuters requests for comment sent outside regular U.S. business hours on whether the cyber incident affected their dealerships.
