๐ŸŽก Ethereum World Expo with La Rural as Schelling Point

For the first time, Devconnect presented a World’s Fair-style experience, all integrated into one immersive environment, within La Rural, one of Buenos Aires’ most iconic venues.

Inside La Rural, attendees can explore:

  • 8 themed areas: DeFi, privacy, L2, decentralized social, hardware and wallets, AI, gaming and art.
  • 80+ Exhibition team showing Ethereum applications in action
  • 15 Community hub organized by ecosystem group
  • 40 Event run by an independent team
  • Discussion corners, co-working spaces, and bookable meeting rooms
  • Boarding station for newcomers
  • Food truck that accepts cryptocurrency payments
  • Live music, cinema, soccer stadium with tournaments

It turned Ethereum into something you could walk on. People tested applications, played on-chain games, tried out new wallets, paid with crypto for food and drinks, explored AI workflows, and met the team building on Ethereum today.

The entire experience was supported by the Devconnect app, which helped attendees explore the massive venue, view programming, create personal itineraries, pay with cryptocurrency through an integrated wallet, or add their own quests, complete quests, discover new applications, and collect POAP along the way. We have collaborated with several web3 projects integrated into our apps, including Para, SimpleFi, POAP, WalletConnect, Base, Zapper, Zupass, AT Protocol, Peanut, and ENS.

Many visitors fall in love with Buenos Aires for its spring vibes, lively streets, mate culture, asados, steaks, ice cream, football energy, street art and surrounding nature. Some have persisted far beyond Devconnect.

Buenos Aires was the perfect location for the first Ethereum World Expo. Argentina has had one of the most active cryptocurrency markets in the world, with approximately 20% owning cryptocurrencies and using them for savings, inflation protection, access to credit, and stability. Many vendors across the city are accepting cryptocurrencies for payments, and this familiarity gave Devconnect the feeling of being in the right place at the right time. Devconnect itself has also been shaped by contributions from local and regional Ethereum communities.

ETHCon was one of the major Devconnect events and was hosted by local communities SEED Latam, Crecimiento, Ethereum Argentina, ETH Kipu, Mujeres en Cripto and several local partners.

Beginning in April 2025, we have supported regional initiatives through Destino Devconnect, a grant round designed to accelerate regional adoption ahead of Devconnect.
