Sensex rose by over 200 points and Nifty by over 26,150 points as gains rose.

Indian stocks opened slightly higher on Friday, the second trading day of the year. This is as investors look forward to corporate updates ahead of quarterly earnings season. Sensex and Nifty are showing slight gains on a weekly basis although risk appetite continues to ease due to continued foreign portfolio outflows.

BSE Sensex was trading at 85,399, up over 200 points or 0.25 per cent, while NSE Nifty50 added 40 points or 0.23 per cent to trade above 26,150.
