Announcement of grants for academic research

we are A new wave of subsidies We fund formal research aimed at generating more knowledge about Ethereum, blockchain technology and related domains. We encourage academics, research centres, PhD students and anyone interested in Ethereum research to submit project proposals. This grant round has up to $750,000 in total available funding.

Knowledge as Ethereum’s Flywheel

Ethereum is transforming the way people view economics and finance, challenging cybersecurity in a new context, influencing art and culture, changing identities, and ultimately redesigning the status quo in various areas of society, creating tremendous impact. It continues to develop at a rapid pace.

Academia can and should have an increased role in this process to help solve key issues and advance the Ethereum ecosystem.

There is a growing number of outstanding researchers exploring various domain areas related to Ethereum and positively impacting our shared knowledge on privacy, mechanism design, economics, transparency, financial inclusion, and more. But we want to foster more!

Distributed knowledge and a truly global community

The goal of this grant round is to support formal research on Ethereum and related domains while also involving more participants in the ecosystem. As more knowledge and research is shared across the global community, Ethereum can evolve to have a larger and more positive impact.

So what are we looking for?

We seek to fund formal, scientific, and systematic research targeting Ethereum and related domains, and to sponsor freely available, open source content. To help you get started, check out: wishlist. This list of project ideas and areas is not exhaustive, so don’t let it limit your creativity. We will accept applications for any research topic that has the potential to impact the Ethereum ecosystem.
