sensex gains today: ET Market Watch: Jio Financial enters large cap segment, Sobha gains 15%.

1. BSE’s Sensex rose 491 points to close at 71,847.

2. Nifty on NSE rose 141 points to close at 21,658 points.

3. Banking and financial stocks led the market, and real estate continued its upward trend with solid sales volume.
4. Geo Financial entered large-cap stocks, while Tatatech, JSW Infra, and Ireda entered mid-cap stocks.

5. Bajaj Finance rose 4.4% to be among the top Sensex gainers. The non-bank lender reported a 26% year-on-year increase in new loans and a 35% increase in AUM in the December quarter, according to a business update.

6. Sobha Real Estate surged around 19% intraday and hit a 52-week high after it was named the best idea of ​​2024 by Motilal Oswal.

7. Torrent Power closed 7.5 per cent higher after announcing investments of Rs 47,400 crore in a solar power project, green hydrogen and ammonia manufacturing plant in Gujarat.

8. Nifty Financials rose 1.22% and Nifty Realty index rose 6.76% to hit a new record. It was led by Sobha, Macrotech Developers, Godrej Properties and DLF.

9. The Indian rupee strengthened slightly thanks to dollar inflows and closed at 83.23 against the USD.

10. Oil prices rose nearly 1% on Thursday on concerns about Middle East supplies due to disruptions in Libyan oil fields and tensions over the Israel-Hamas war. Brent crude oil futures were traded at $78.87 per barrel, and U.S. WTI crude oil futures were traded at $73.41 per barrel.
