April 2023 Work Progress Report: New Coins – Kaspa, Ergo Block Rewards Reduced
Kaspa from 2Miners
We are pleased to announce that 2Miners Pool has expanded its mining services to include Kaspa (KAS), an innovative cryptocurrency focused on scalability, security, and decentralized governance. Recognizing the growing interest in Kaspa mining in the community, we’ve made it easy for both GPU and ASIC miners to join the pool and take advantage of its features.
Kaspa mining by 2Miners is available for both SOLO and PPLNS mining options. We set up dedicated ports for ASIC miners using port 3434 for the SOLO pool and port 2222 for the PPLNS pool. These ports are thoroughly tested and optimized to minimize the number of invalid shares on ASIC devices, ensuring a smooth mining experience. How to mine Kaspa with ASIC and GPU: setup, additional rewards, dual mining
2Miners is well-known for its commitment to fairness and transparency, and continues to uphold these values with its Kaspa mining service. We are the only pool that pays full block rewards, including an additional 233 KAS for retroactive block rewards. This means that miners receive the maximum possible payout for their mining efforts.
In less than a month, more than 2000 miners have joined our KAS pool and the total hashrate has reached nearly 80TH/s, making 2Miners a top 10 pool for Kaspa mining. We plan to add BTC payment options to Kaspa pools in the near future. If you mine at 2Miners, you can already get paid to mine ETC, ERGO, RVN, ZEC in BTC.
Ergo block reward reduction
Ergo, a proof-of-work blockchain, follows a predetermined issuance schedule for its native ERG tokens. In April, the block reward was reduced from 42 ERG to 39 ERG as per the planned schedule. To ensure the long-term sustainability of the mining protocol, the Ergo Foundation has proposed an emission schedule amendment, EIP27.
EIP27, which has received more than 90% approval from the mining community, extends the discharge schedule by approximately 17.38 years. This expansion gives Ergo more time to build the cryptoeconomic security needed for its blockchain, fostering continued growth and development.
We recently made improvements to our Monero mining pool with a focus on optimizing server performance. One of the major changes we implemented was increasing the sharing difficulty from 120K to 480K. These adjustments were made to improve the efficiency of the servers so they can better handle the growing number of miners. What is sharing and what is the sharing difficulty when mining in a pool?
It is important to note that changes in shared difficulty do not affect the rewards miners receive. Share difficulty is a parameter that affects the amount of work required for a miner to submit a valid share. By increasing the sharing difficulty, we reduce the number of submitted shares and consequently reduce the load on the server, improving the stability and performance of the mining pool.
The goal of this update is to provide users with a better mining experience, ensuring the reliability and efficiency of mining pools.
Mining Pool Updates
Maintaining up-to-date cryptocurrency nodes in your mining pool is essential for several reasons. Best of all, updates often include fixes and improvements to protect against potential threats, ensuring the security and stability of your network. Second, we integrate optimizations and fixes into the software to improve mining efficiency and performance. Lastly, keeping up to date with updates allows miners to adapt to changes in consensus protocols and algorithms, ensuring compatibility and avoiding potential loss of income.
This month we updated nodes for Monero and Cortex mining pools.
Monero v0.18.2.0 – Released Fluorine Fermi, key points release 2. This is the v0.18.2.0 release of the Monero software, which brings various bug fixes and improvements, especially to block propagation times. Key highlights of this release include adding a cache to significantly improve block propagation speeds, fixing ping issues to find healthy peers for connections, updating OpenSSL to 1.1.1t, and many more minor bug fixes and improvements.
cortex 1.10.41-stable-51b6aae2 Includes protocol upgrades and potential bug fixes. And I installed version 1.10.42 with hotfix there.
