Bitcoin Design Foundation Launches Design Support in Bitcoin Ecosystem

As part of a movement to advance the role of design in the Bitcoin ecosystem, the Bitcoin Design Foundation has the support of founding supporters Spiral and BitBox, as well as individuals who share the belief that effective design is a catalyst for broader Bitcoin adoption. It appears thanks to their contributions.

Since its founding in 2020, the Bitcoin Design Community has been creating a collaborative environment where individual designers and researchers work to improve the ecosystem, supported by grants. This joint effort has resulted in essential resources such as the Bitcoin Design Guide, Bitcoin Wallet UI Kit, reference designs, integrated QR codes, and impactful initiatives such as Taproot campaigns. The community has participated in hundreds of calls, Designathons, and collaborations with open source projects to advance design elements, all made possible through several pivotal grants that launched this initiative.

With the creation of the Bitcoin Design Foundation, the goal is to sustain and expand these efforts. The foundation is led by Christoph Ono, Mogashni Naidoo and Daniel Nordh, who are key contributors and organizers of projects and activities in the Bitcoin design community. Officially registered with Open Collective Europe, a reputable non-profit platform, the foundation ensures financial transparency and efficiency, allowing it to devote more time and resources to advancing Bitcoin design rather than administrative tasks.

The foundation’s primary focus is supporting motivated individuals with grants that empower them to contribute to open source Bitcoin design, user research, and related fields. The Foundation will also expand its support for community projects by covering ongoing or one-time costs, including domain fees, events and educational materials.

For those who are passionate about contributing to this cause, the Foundation encourages donations through a dedicated donation page. Grant applications and inquiries are welcomed on our Discord channel to engage in a collaborative environment where the Bitcoin community can collectively shape the future of Bitcoin design.
