Bitcoin Exchange Relai Integrates Lightning Network for 100,000 European Users
Relai, a Swiss-based Bitcoin app with self-custodial wallets, announced a new partnership with Blockstream and Breez to integrate the Lightning Network into its platform, benefiting its more than 100,000 European users, according to a press release sent to Bitcoin Magazine.
The Lightning Network provides a scalable solution that facilitates fast and cheap transactions, making Bitcoin more suitable for everyday use. Relai aims to leverage Lightning to simplify Bitcoin payments for its growing user base, allowing them to send and receive Bitcoin directly to their wallets in a self-managed manner.
“Bitcoin is sound money. Lightning is the future of Bitcoin,” said Relai CEO Julian Liniger. “This is how money moves around the world in the 21st century. That’s why Lightning is a strategic focus for Relai and essential to our mission to bring BTC to millions of people quickly, easily and securely!”
Relai aims to collaborate with industry giants Blockstream and Breez to ensure seamless integration and optimal user experience. Blockstream’s Greenlight cloud nodes and Breez SDK’s Lightning Service Provider (LSP) enable Relai to deliver the benefits of Lightning while maintaining non-custodial control of user funds.
Integrating Lightning into Relai’s platform is just the beginning of its product expansion and European expansion plans, according to the release. Relai aims to expand its services across Europe by obtaining a MiCA license, taking major strides towards its goal of making Bitcoin accessible to millions of users across the continent.
