Blockchain detective ZachXBT claims three attackers were involved in the theft of $243 million from a single Genesis creditor.

The FBI has raided a luxury home in Miami believed to belong to a cryptocurrency insider after blockchain expert ZachXBT investigated a $243 million robbery.

According to Miami’s 7News, the agency conducted a “court-ordered law enforcement operation” at a home on Wednesday, with agents armed with “heavy weapons” firing flashbangs into the home. However, the TV station did not mention any cryptocurrency theft.

It is unclear at the time of publication who the homeowner is, but ZachXBT, known for his frequent investigations into alleged cryptocurrency scams, posted a lengthy thread on Thursday detailing what he called “one of my best investigations to date.”

In the “Incident Summary,” ZachXBT claims that on August 19, 2024, three perpetrators known as Greavys (Malone Iam), Wiz (Veer Chetal), and Box (Jeandiel Serrano) stole $243 million from an unnamed individual purportedly a creditor of the bankrupt lending company Genesis through a sophisticated social engineering attack.

ZachXBT wrote that the attackers pretended to be representatives of Google and the Gemini cryptocurrency exchange, tricking the victim into accessing his account and resetting the security system. They then allegedly accessed his private keys and transferred 4,064. Bitcoin

ZachXBT claims that “initial tracking suggests that $243 million was split between the parties in various ways, with the funds quickly moving to over 15 exchanges, where they were instantly swapped between Bitcoin, Litecoin, Ethereum, and Monero.”

However, the attackers, whose identity and money-laundering plans were allegedly revealed in a live video leak of the attack and subsequent efforts to conceal the stolen funds, are unclear. It is unclear how ZachXBT accessed these videos or the various Telegram and Discord chat logs he cited.

When asked by X about the source of his evidence, ZachXBT said, “Some things are better left unsaid.”

Web3 forensics experts Cryptoforensic Investigators and zeroShadow reportedly worked with the victim ZachXBT and Binance Security to recover some of the funds.

ZachXBT reported that Serrano and Iam were arrested in Miami and Los Angeles on Wednesday evening, respectively. However, The Block has not yet found any arrest records for either incident in Miami-Dade County or Los Angeles County.
