(Reuters) – Boeing on Thursday named sustainability chief Chris Raymond as the new head of its aftermarket business, succeeding Stephanie Pope, who was announced as the planemaker’s chief operating officer on Monday.

Raymond will become CEO of Boeing (NYSE:) Global Services on January 1, after serving as the company’s first Chief Sustainability Officer since October 2020.

Boeing’s commercial aerospace and defense segment posted negative margins in the first nine months of 2023, while Global Services remains a profitable sign for the U.S. aerospace giant, which is responsible for $17.6 billion in revenue in 2022.

Raymond previously served as vice president of sustainability, strategy and corporate development, and led the company’s efforts to form a joint venture with now-defunct Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer. A Boeing veteran, he began his career as an engineer and held various roles in the defense department.

Raymond will be held in the top sustainability position by Brian Moran, currently Boeing’s vice president of global sustainability policy and partnerships.
