California county sues Tesla for handling hazardous waste
A new lawsuit accuses Tesla Inc. of repeatedly mishandling hazardous waste at its facility in California.
District attorneys from 25 California counties, including Los Angeles, San Francisco and Alameda, where Tesla’s Fremont manufacturing plant is located, accused Tesla of impropriety in a lawsuit filed Tuesday in San Joaquin County (California) Superior Court. In 2019, Tesla settled with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency over hazardous waste violations at its Fremont plant, and in 2022 it settled a separate Clear Air Act violation with the EPA for its Fremont facility.
Tesla, which disbanded its media relations team in 2020, did not respond to a request for comment.
