On January 31, Hulu sent an email to subscribers notifying them that the company had updated its subscriber agreement. The changes will affect new subscribers from January 25th, but older and existing subscribers will remain under the updated terms until March 14th.

The new terms state that users can no longer share their subscriptions with anyone outside their household. The terms also specify that Hulu reserves the right to analyze account usage to determine whether subscribers are complying with the terms of the agreement.

Subscribers are also responsible for all use of their account outside of their household. Under the updated terms, Hulu may restrict, suspend, or terminate without prior notice any account found to be in violation of the terms of the subscription agreement.

The streaming platform notes that anyone who wants to continue sharing access to their Netflix subscription will have to pay an additional per-user fee of $7.99 per month for anyone outside of their immediate family.
