Blockchain-based role-playing game (RPG) Chain of Alliance has launched its beta version, bringing “massive changes” to the game’s systems and overhauling its visuals and UI.
“In general, we’ve made improvements to most of our games,” said Jorn Wisman, Chain of Alliance marketing director. Decrypt. “We made significant changes to the beta and alpha builds.”
These changes include a “reworked” game progression, combat and crafting system, a “redesigned” UI, and an updated quest system, as well as “all-new” animations, VFX and audio.
Wisman said he reworked Chain of Alliance’s combat mechanics “from the ground up,” with the goal of creating a flexible system that could easily add new skills and updates. Not only does the addition of new classes help keep the game “fresh and exciting,” the rework also gives players more options for specialization as they begin the character creation process.
Meanwhile, the new Aspect mechanic adds random properties to gear to enhance players’ stats, and allows for even more detailed customization by engraving runes on aspected gear.
Wisman added that the skill mechanics have been tweaked to be more “purposeful” and that players can now use new taunt, shield and block skills that add layers of play and counter play to the game.
For example, a taunt move forces the opposing team to attack the taunt hero, allowing one of the player’s other characters to heal or stack effects for a more devastating attack.
New art, animations, and VFX have been added to further enhance the game’s visuals. “The early versions were heavily influenced by the limitations of web gaming technology, but we are constantly working to push this as far as possible,” said Wisman. decryptionThe game design has been improved and the in-game combat animations have been completely overhauled, making it “unique in the cryptocurrency gaming space.”
The team is particularly proud of the visual upgrades to the arenas, adding, “They are all vibrant and unique, making each battle that much more exciting.”
The Chain of Alliance beta not only refreshes the game’s graphics, but also overhauls the UI, optimizing the interface for computer browsers rather than mobile devices. “We focused on the user experience and maintaining a consistent style across the game,” said Wisman. He also added that combat is “much more interactive” to help players make better-informed decisions during gameplay.
This is especially important considering the complex systems like crafting and sculpting that were added to the game with the beta release. “Overall, the UI is much more intuitive and easier for new players to understand,” Wisman said.
What is Chain of Alliance?
Released in February 2022, Chain of Alliance is an immersive turn-based party-building RPG where the game world expands based on the choices and actions of the community.
Heroes are a key asset in Chain of Alliance, created by players using components such as heads, torsos, and arms. Each component is given unique properties and is further customized through the hero’s race, class assignment, the player’s equipment selection, and new aspects and sculpting mechanics introduced in the beta release.
Heroes can be created as NFTs and progress is recorded directly on the NFT. “We want to give traditional gamers who love RPG games the option to own their own digital assets without being tied to developers as they are today,” said Simon Sorgenfrei, co-founder of Chain of Alliance. decryption.
