EigenLayer coughs up about 28 million more EIGEN after airdrop backlash.
Ethereum re-staking protocol EigenLayer is airdropping approximately 28 million native EIGEN tokens to over 280,000 wallets, just a few days after announcing its first airdrop.
On Monday, EigenLayer announced that it would allocate 15% of its total supply to the community, but some users viewed several provisions of the airdrop program as restrictive.
on may 2nd post As for This means that initial airdrop claimants are also included.
In a follow-up blog post, the re-staking protocol is set up so that Season 1 claimants will receive a minimum of 110 EIGEN, while Season 2 claimants (those who interacted with the protocol between March 15 and April 29) will receive a minimum of 100. I shared that it would happen. Crampons.
Even though the token has not yet hit the market, the EIGEN perpetual futures contract is currently trading at $10 on the derivatives market. This could put the value of the latest airdrop at around $280 million, according to Aevo data.
The price of EIGEN may change significantly prior to the token’s official distribution event on May 10th.
Users who felt left out in the first airdrop criticized the re-staking protocol after announcing the “Stakedrop” program on April 30.
Critics have criticized EIGEN’s non-transferable token structure, a smaller-than-expected 15% community allocation, and the United States, Canada, China and Russia have blocked EIGEN token claims.
EigenLayer said it plans to include more testnet users who may have been excluded from the airdrop.
“Missing testnet user allocations will be updated as part of Phase 2 of Season 1,” EigenLayer said. “We will provide more details in the coming weeks,” he wrote.

In its first airdrop announcement, the Eigen Foundation said users can claim tokens starting May 10, but tokens will not be transferable or sellable until an undisclosed date.
EigenLayer said these controls were put in place to ensure key functionality, including payment and drawdown parameters, were “well established” before EIGEN became transferable between users.
In its most recent blog post, EigenLayer provided additional details regarding the non-transferability of EIGEN, but still did not provide a date when the tokens would be transferable to users.
Individual investors and team members will receive full lock-up for one year after the tokens become transferable to the community, it said.
“After that, 4% per month unlocked and fully unlocked three years after transferability. This allows protocol users to gain transmission permissions before core contributors.”
