Ethereum Protocol Fellowship: Third Cohort

Do you enjoy solving interesting and challenging problems? Are you interested in participating at the most basic level of the Ethereum protocol?

The Protocol Support Team (EF) is pleased to announce that applications are now being accepted for the third cohort of the Ethereum Protocol Fellowship. (Formerly Core Developer Apprenticeship Program (CDAP))!

with Merge is closed (58750000000000000000000 🥳).Ethereum core developers are looking forward to the next phase of protocol development and need qualified, dedicated people to help create an increasingly powerful and robust Ethereum network.

What is Ethereum Protocol Fellowship (EPF)?

EPF is a program designed to involve developers in the protocol development process. This is an opportunity to learn more about the protocol while working closely with the core development community as well as others on the same learning trajectory.

Developing a core protocol is not an easy task, but it is interesting, challenging, and rewarding. Unfortunately, this work also has a very high barrier to entry. A high level of fluency in the actual protocol itself is required. This requires a deep understanding of various engineering concepts. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required. The purpose of this program is to provide an easier on-ramp to overcome these barriers and provide initial support and guidance to work with key developers.

past cohort

EPF has previously hosted two successful cohorts. Members of the previous cohort at that time were:

  • We researched alternative methods of documenting and specifying the Ethereum protocol.
  • I investigated ways to modify or remove the SELFDESTRUCT opcode.
  • Helped build ZKSync.
  • We have built a new P2P network for our portal network.
  • I wrote my own EVM implementation.
  • Ten graduates of the cohort are now working full-time on core protocol development, and five others are working in adjacent areas of the industry.

Make a real impact

Core protocol development is a key role in managing and improving the multi-billion dollar Ethereum protocol. A protocol that we believe will play a key role in creating a more just and equitable future for humanity. Do you want to join us in building a future that excites you?
