Ethereum’s next upgrade Dencun launches mainnet on March 13th

Dencun implementation on mainnet
The core development team of cryptocurrency (virtual currency) Ethereum (ETH) decided on the mainnet launch goal for the next upgrade, ‘Dencoon’, at an online meeting on the 8th.
According to Tim Beiko of the Ethereum Foundation, the slot number to launch Dencun on this mainnet is 8626176, and it is scheduled to run at around 23:00 PM on March 13th.
The biggest feature of the ‘Denkun’ upgrade is the introduction of EIP-4844 (Protodunk Sharding). This is expected to significantly improve the communication efficiency of the rollup technology used in Layer 2 scaling solutions.
Data in L2 can now be temporarily stored in a format called ‘blob’, which is expected to improve data processing cost efficiency while maintaining data verification (availability).
In particular, it is expected to lead to a reduction in the network fee (gas fee) of the layer 2 roll-up chain. According to a report released by Coinbase, a major U.S. exchange, Proto Danksharding will reduce transaction fees for layer 2, including Optimism (OP) and Arbitrum (ARB), from 1/2 to 1/10 by the end of 2023. It is planned to be reduced. It is estimated that there is a possibility that it may decrease.
