Find out how to get free bitcoin with the shooting game Splitgate.
Splitgate, a first-person shooter that combines arena-style explosions with portal creation and movement features, will implement Bitcoin revenue through Lightning Network integration from startup Zebedee (ZBD).
ZBD has teamed up with Splitgate’s game developer 1047 Games to begin integrating Bitcoin into the PC version of the game. The next tournament is already set to introduce new payment features and reward players. The total prize is 0.5 BTC and the current price is approximately R$93,000.
The Splitgate Winter Invitational will open in December with 16 teams participating and will be held with the first match on the 10th and 11th, the second loser’s match on the 16th and 17th, and the final on the 22nd. Test the game’s beta features before the tournament.
Interested players can check out the ZBD Discord server for details. Registration closes before the first round on December 10th.
To play, users must be at least 18 years old, have a ZBD account, and reside in the United States or Brazil. This feature allows players to earn Bitcoin rewards when they win a match, and players can contribute their wins to make things better for everyone.
“Splitgate continues to have a loyal and engaged player base. We’re always excited to hear about the work ZBD has done and their innovative solutions that will reward players, such as the tournaments they will run,” 1047 Games CEO and co-founder Ian Proulx said in a statement.
What is Splitgate?
Splitgate is a shooting game that first launched in Early Access in 2019 and has seen a surge in popularity as it enters an ongoing beta phase in 2021. There was so much demand that the servers crashed.
1047 Games has announced that it will end active development on the game at the end of 2022 to focus on its next project, but Splitgate will still be online and free to play.
The company claims that the game has been downloaded over 18 million times across all platforms. In 2021, the studio raised a $100 million funding round at a valuation of $1.5 billion.
This isn’t Splitgate’s first foray into the blockchain world. In 2019, 1047 Games teamed up with cryptocurrency video streaming platform Theta (then known as Sliver.tv) to offer NFT and token rewards to viewers.
In 2021, the studio partnered with blockchain startup Epik Prime to launch a series of premium Splitgate NFT collectibles.
Bitcoin in the game
ZBD has already integrated Lightning-based Bitcoin technology into other major PC games, but generally unofficially and without collaboration with game studios.
In 2021, the company launched a Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) server that allows players to potentially earn more Bitcoin after paying a small entry fee before each match.
Recently, ZBD provided Bitcoin earning integration for Microsoft’s Minecraft game, as seen on the Satlantis player-running server.
Satlantis had been operating for months before the crackdown by Microsoft and developer Mojang, which threatened to block its servers after updating its usage rules to ban cryptocurrency imports. Satlantis eventually removed the feature.
ZBD’s technology also supports a variety of mobile games that pay players small amounts of Bitcoin, and ZBD’s Android app provides access to several games that earn Bitcoin.
