generation=0? You will still mine Bitcoin, but no rewards will be generated.
I have a debug.log showing about 80 rewards from January 2009 to about 2011.
I am using Bitcoin 0.8.6-beta with Gen=1 and have run the wallet through Bitcoin 0.8.6 a few times. I saw 20 rewards pop up, and I saw 1 reward pop up. I saw 9 rewards pop up. And not only from what I gathered, but also from what I remember of the early developer state. The reward is there. Once it appears in the mempool, it will be finalized and displayed in your wallet. But as of January 2009 – that .exe no longer exists and I can’t find it. Let’s call the early developer Satoshi. Satoshi said that if you run Bitcoin Qt Core with gen=1, reindex=1 and rescan your wallet, it will be scraped and deposited. But to do that you need to use the initial Bitcoin qt.
I also discovered a fork that occurred in 2013 when 0.8.6 was released. There are 0.8.6 files listed as being from 2011, but according to the last used timestamps on each file. Either way, the fork is said to be modifying the blockchain to not process these rewards, as there have been many people trying to hack the blockchain using these mined blocks. So it looks like you won’t be able to receive these rewards in 0.8.6.
So there are two things I want to do.
A.) Compile Bitcoin QT (Core) reimplementing gen=0|1 so that rewards are generated.
and
B.) Fix the 2013 fork to allow these initial mining rewards to be generated in the wallet.
or
C.) Compile all Bitcoin Cores and work with some volunteers to create a Bitcoin Core that performs all of the above concerns and other concerns.
I know Bitcoin QT is basically Java. I haven’t really paid much attention to it lately. I’m not even a big fan of programming. I know my way. But I hate programming. So I’ll either get some help compiling it, or I’ll research and learn how to compile Bitcoin QT myself.
Can someone explain to me if I see the rewards my Bitcoin Qt wallet mined between 2009 and 2011? And if I have to use the original Bitcoin client or compile it myself, or how difficult would it be to compile a Bitcoin Qt client to integrate gen=0|1 directly????
Any other thoughts?
Thank you -=(~
