Goerli long-term support updates
in the next few months GörliEthereum’s first multi-client testnet, is discontinuing support for clients and the EF test team.. The Dencun network upgrade will be the last upgrade implemented on the network.
3 months after Goerli Dencun activation or 1 month after Dencun mainnet activation, whichever is later. The team starts leaving the validator (1). Anyone using Goerli as their stable testnet will need to migrate elsewhere before this.
Goerli staking is permissionless, but validators from clients and test teams hold an absolute majority of the stake. Therefore, their departure affects the stability of the network. The team also plans to use this event to test delayed finality, inactive leakage, and bulk slashing.
We recommend that application and tool developers use: Sepolia Test decentralized applications, smart contracts, and other EVM features. A set of permissioned validators provides a stable testing environment. Alternatively, many local development environment Allows testing of copies of the Ethereum mainnet state.
Stakers and infrastructure providers involved in protocol-level testing will be able to hole testnet, anyone can run the verifier. To test a validator setup, stakers should also consider the following: temporary phenomenon Testnet. This network resets weekly and enables simple end-to-end testing of the validator lifecycle.
Goerli is currently expected to be the first testnet to enable the Dencun upgrade. Once the Goerli network upgrade date is set, this post will be updated to reflect that. Upgrades will be announced on this blog, and you can sign up to receive email notifications here.
Goerli was launched and maintained in a way that symbolizes the Ethereum community. That is, a group of randomly formed people shows up to solve a technical problem and ends up Building a Community As a result. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to the network over the years!
One contributor, everyone agrees, deserves a special shout-out for putting soul into the testnet. Afri Schoedon, thank you for the care and love you gave Görli!
(1) A dual deadline approach was chosen to allow time for the client team to deploy fixes to Goerli if network upgrade-related bugs were discovered late in the deployment process.
