How to Drive Traffic to Lightning Routing Nodes

We have a lightning node and are looking for some educational advice on how to attract more traffic to our routing nodes.

Here is a brief description of what we experienced.

We currently have a small node with about 60 million sats with 6 channels. We recently closed down a few channels that didn’t appear to have done much (in a long time) to support the node’s routing figures, and shortly after that we opened a few much larger sat channels with large Lightning nodes like LNBig and Nicehash. I opened it. And so on… The situation only got worse, not better. So we’ve lowered the fees considerably to try to improve the situation, but so far we haven’t had any luck with little to no routing in and out and a lot of trouble rebalancing using RTL. Before we shut down these long-standing channels, they worked much better than they do now.

We had a few contacts last year to get advice but we may have misinterpreted this information as it didn’t really work for us. One of the main things we want to know is how to get one or two more nodes that seem to start the ball rolling to route the sitting node to ours. This seems to be the key here. If there is at least one node routed to our node, nothing seems to happen.

Any ideas on how to create a more widely used routing node?
