How to set up Goldshell AL Box?
summary
Goldshell is a well-known and established brand in the cryptocurrency mining industry for high-quality mining hardware. Goldshell’s recently released AL Box mining Blake3 algorithm has a maximum hash rate of 360Gh/s with a power consumption of only 180W. Provides excellent energy efficiency of 0.5j/Gh.
Let’s take a closer look at setting up the Goldshell AL Box with step-by-step instructions and appropriate images.
A step-by-step guide to setting up a Goldshell AL box.
1. ASIC preparation
- Goldshell AL Box Mining Alephium is compact, allowing miners to comfortably mine anywhere.
- Unlike other ASIC miners that require high power, AL Box only requires 180W. This allows the ASIC to run at 120V or 240V. However, it depends on the power supply you use to run the miner.
- The AL Box does not come with a power supply unit (PSU). Two power delivery methods can be used to power the ASIC:~HP server PSU with split-board PCI-e cable
~ATX power supply with PCI-e cable and 24-pin power supply.
Here we will use an HP server PSU with a PCI-e cable breakaway board for demonstration purposes.
- An Ethernet cable is required for initial setup. However, unlike other ASICs, AL Box has Wi-Fi support that can be used while mining.
- Connect the PCI-e cable to the ASIC.
- Now connect the Ethernet cable for initial setup. After all, we can use Wi-Fi while mining.
- A power cable is required to connect the HP server PSU to the power supply. The AL Box requires only 180W, so you can use a regular household power supply.
- Connect the cable to a regular household power supply. Make sure all plugs are tight and there are no loose connections. You are all ready to start your ASIC.
2. ASIC configuration
- The indicator light should come on when the power supply is turned on.
- The next step is to obtain the IP address of your Goldshell AL Box.
- Go to a website called Advanced IP Scanner. It is a free program software that provides IP address of ASIC.
- Alternatively, you can log into your router and get its IP address.
3. Access AL Box through web browser
- Enter the ASIC’s IP address in your browser.
- This will take you to the AL Box home page.
4. Firmware improvements
- For optimized mining performance, we recommend using the latest firmware version. Check the firmware version on the settings page. If it is not the latest version, you can download it from the official website.
- Go to Goldshell’s official website Github. Download the latest firmware version.
- Now you’re back in AL Box’s web GUI. Click on the firmware file you just downloaded and update it.
- The firmware update may take 5 to 10 minutes. Once complete, you can check the updated firmware version in your dashboard.
5. Download Alephium wallet
- To receive Alephium, you will need a dedicated Alephium wallet.
- Alephium wallet can be downloaded from the official website alephium.org.
- You can pick and choose a wallet that suits your taste.
6. Add mining pool
- To add a mining pool, you must unlock a miner. Click the unlock button at the top right.
- The default username is admin and the password is 123456789. Click Unlock to add a mining pool.
- Now go to the pool settings page and add your mining pool, miner name, and password.
- You can check which mining pools are suitable for Alephium in our mining pool statistics. For demonstration purposes we will use dxpool.com. Go to Alephium (ALPH) and click “Tutorial”.
- Copy your mining pool address.
- Paste the copied address into URL.
- Here are the miners’ names: This is your receiving wallet address.
- Paste the addresses separated by .albox into the Miner Name tab. The password is 123. Click Apply.
7. Start mining Alephium
- You can see that the mining pool address has been updated. The mining process would have started from dxpool. You can check the mining pool status in real time.
Alephium Mining Profitability
The profitability of mining Alephium or any other cryptocurrency is complex. This depends on various factors such as Alephium price, hash rate, power consumption, electricity rates in your area, quality of mining hardware, market conditions, etc.
First, the price of Alephium directly affects mining profitability. Therefore, it is important to monitor price movements. Moreover, cryptocurrency prices are very volatile, so watching them carefully will help you make informed decisions.

Alephium mining difficulty
Each cryptocurrency has a specific mining algorithm that adjusts mining difficulty to maintain consistent block generation times. Therefore, mining difficulty varies from cryptocurrency to cryptocurrency. For example, Bitcoin’s block creation time is 10 minutes, while Litecoin’s block creation time is 2.5 minutes.
Alephium follows the Blake3 algorithm, which adjusts mining difficulty in real time based on the number of network participants. For example, the algorithm increases the difficulty when there are many miners in the network, and lowers the difficulty when there are few network participants.
In addition to consistent block generation times, mining difficulty is important for maintaining the decentralization, security, and integrity of blockchain networks. Therefore, safe cryptocurrency transactions are possible.
