How will the ‘Pixel’ guild drastically change cryptocurrency’s most popular game?

Pixels is undoubtedly the most popular game in the cryptocurrency space following its token launch and airdrop last month. Ronin farming game attracts hundreds of thousands of users every day. Given that success, why will the gameplay “completely change” in the coming months?

This all ties back to the early introduction of in-game guilds, a social finance feature that takes its cue from last year’s vibrant protocols like Friend.tech and Stars Arena. Essentially, NFT membership passes allow players to form in-game guilds, which can then be resold and granted unique perks and benefits.

But guilds will be more than just social mechanisms or status symbols, they will be more than a way to join some kind of exclusive “club.” At Pixels, guilds will be tightly coupled with a “massive” overhaul of how resources are created, founder Luke Barwikowski said. Official Live Stream this week.

Ahead of the launch of the PIXEL token last month, Barwikowski shared the following perspectives: decryptionGG is envisioning how guilds will work within the updated Pixels economy. Click below to watch that portion of the video interview.

In short, Pixel’s in-game resources will become more scarce through what this week’s stream described as a tier system for rarity. And as he explained in an interview last month, he expects user-run guilds to form around specific resources, specialize in them, and ultimately help control and distribute those resources across the economy.

“This guild will be tightly integrated into our gameplay and will control all resource creation within our game,” he said. decryptionThis is GG. “They will help distribute these resources. We expect guilds to be formed around land and (…) other rare resources. And we expect guilds to help facilitate and group players together.”

With some changes already in place to resource gathering and generation, especially around the in-game trees (which can be cut down), Pixels “became competitive almost overnight,” Barwikowski said.

Guilds will amplify the new angle, given the ability to buy and sell passes and potentially profit from resale over time thanks to a bond curve that gradually increases the price.

Barwikowski said this week that guilds will eventually be able to set specific roles for their members and may even require ownership of multiple passes to access perks. Guilds can also earn a portion of pass sales to build a group coffer that they can use as they wish, rewarding members, targeting potential recruits, or accumulating more resources.

Of course, the idea of industrial competition for pixelated items may not be the vibe everyone is looking for in Pixels. Barwikowski said he was fine. Players who join a guild and do not wish to participate in SocialFi can continue to play as before. Do you just want to relax and enjoy solo gameplay? It’s still there.

However, he sees this change as another way for Pixels to embrace gameplay mechanics that only make sense in the crypto economy, while also providing new utility to the PIXEL token and allowing players to have more options and choices in the gaming world.

“All of this basically feeds back into PIXEL and what we do with these tokens, so it’s very complex. “It’s really interesting,” he said. decryptionThis is February’s GG. “I’ve never been more excited about the gameplay we’re building here over the past month. I think we are doing something about sustainable economics and Web3 gaming.”
