HyperPlay launches MetaMask Snaps integration into native games
quick take
HyperPlay and MetaMask are joining forces to begin integrating MetaMask Snaps into native games, starting with Bushi on the Sui blockchain. This collaboration enhances Web3 gaming by strengthening security, communication, and interoperability and transcending blockchain boundaries for gamers and developers.
Offering new possibilities for gamers and developers
HyperPlay, the innovative Web3-based game store, and MetaMask, the popular Ethereum-based wallet, announced the groundbreaking integrated launch of MetaMask Snaps for native games. This move is likely to improve security, communication, and interoperability within the Web3 gaming ecosystem, creating new possibilities for gamers and developers.
HyperPlay’s partnership with MetaMask has found a dynamic ally in Bushi, the popular third-person competitive fighting game built on the Sui blockchain. Historically, the game has had difficulty connecting with MetaMask’s massive user base because it is based on blockchain rather than EVM. However, with the introduction of HyperPlay and MetaMask Snaps, users can now seamlessly bring their wallets and assets directly into Bushi’s immersive world.
Leon Berroya, founder and CEO of Bushi, said: “Every game developer dreams of reaching the largest possible audience and engaging them with their game with as little friction as possible. That’s why it’s not a scary thing to partner with HyperPlay, Game7 and MetaMask to help us push the boundaries and compete with the best titles in gaming. With Snaps, we can now collaborate, connect, and communicate with communities we never thought possible. The best part is that game developers can do all this while focusing on what they do best: making games.”
The importance of this partnership extends beyond Sui. HyperPlay has ambitious plans to support games on a variety of major blockchain protocols, including Bitcoin, Starkware, Solana, Aptos, Tezos, and Cosmos. This development further enhances HyperPlay’s custom MetaMask wallet overlay, taking a major step forward in establishing interoperability as the standard for all Web3 games.
HyperPlay debuted in November 2022 as a joint effort between Game7 and MetaMask, a decentralized autonomous organization dedicated to building Web3 gaming infrastructure. HyperPlay’s primary goal is to usher in a new era of interoperability in Web3 games, enabling developers to tap into new audiences and revenue streams.
HyperPlay raised $12 million in Series A round. Early this year. The round was co-led by Griffin Gaming Partners and Bitkraft Ventures, with participation from MetaMask’s parent company ConsenSys, Ethereal Ventures, Delphi, Game7, Mirana Ventures, Monoceros Ventures, and others.
What sets HyperPlay apart is its unique ability to integrate with other game stores, including the Epic Games Store. The MetaMask wallet overlay allows players to access their MetaMask wallet from within any game, allowing for seamless in-game purchases and in-game token collection. With the MetaMask Snaps integration, games within HyperPlay can now request users to add Snaps, expanding the functionality of the wallet and enabling interactions with blockchains not previously supported.
JacobC.eth, Founder and CEO of HyperPlay “HyperPlay’s mission is to unlock the true potential of a permissionless, scalable, interoperable gaming world that empowers gamers and developers with great user experiences. “Integrating MetaMask Snaps allows HyperPlay to support the entire Web3 gaming ecosystem, regardless of which blockchain protocol games are built on.”
This collaboration also benefits game developers. That’s because you get the tools to design your own custom Snaps, and you can even encourage players to install Snaps directly within the game if they’re running through HyperPlay. The open source nature of Snaps allows any developer to leverage the technology to support new blockchains or develop new features, thereby fostering innovation within the Web3 gaming space.
MetaMask released. snap The September 2023 feature will enhance the platform’s interoperability with various blockchains and transform it into an all-encompassing multi-protocol aggregator wallet.
Christian Montoya, Product Lead for MetaMask Snaps at Consensys, emphasized their shared commitment to bringing the benefits of interoperability to gamers and developers, saying: He said, “Deeper integration with HyperPlay highlights one of the ways we are bringing the spirit of permissionless creativity to life. “We are making a joint effort to empower both gamers and developers with the benefits of interoperability to enhance and diversify the gaming community.”
As HyperPlay, MetaMask, and partners advance their vision of a fully interconnected Web3 gaming world, the boundaries of what is possible in the gaming industry continue to expand, promising a brighter, more inclusive future for gamers and developers alike.
