Import private key into bitcoincore – error occurred

I’m a total dummy/non-expert and can’t figure out how to import my private key into bitcoincore v23. When I type “importprivkey” and then paste the private key, I keep getting the error “This type of wallet does not support this command.”

Is there anyone who can talk to me about this like I’m 5 years old?!
