Kraken co-founded the Cryptocurrency Information Sharing and Analysis Center (ISAC).
We are excited to be a founding member of the industry’s first Cryptocurrency Information Sharing and Analysis Center (ISAC). The non-profit organization will foster a collaborative approach to information sharing across the ecosystem to reduce cybersecurity exploits and improve trust in blockchain and crypto-asset technologies.
“Kraken has a proven track record of strong cybersecurity protocols, but cryptocurrency is only as secure as the weakest link in the industry. A series of vulnerabilities exploit risks that undermine confidence in this revolutionary asset class. This is why we must work together to share knowledge and information. Only through effective collaboration can cryptocurrency and blockchain technology reach its full potential,” said Nick Percoco, Chief Security Officer at Kraken.
Crypto ISAC’s founding team consists of Kraken, Fireblocks, Hedera, Ribbit Capital, Circle, Coinbase, The Solana Foundation, Consensys, Aleo, Evertas, Trail of Bits, Arbitrum, and Red Balloon Security.
Each member is committed to achieving five key strategic goals:
- Trusted Environment: Establish a process for cryptocurrency companies and government agencies to communicate in order to preemptively prevent abuse of on-chain infrastructure.
- Unbiased Information: It acts as an impartial information broker with a secure mechanism for disseminating information between stakeholders.
- Dissemination of quality information: Ensures early notification of actual and potential incidents so members can effectively address security issues.
- collaboration: We perform threat analysis to protect important cryptocurrency and blockchain infrastructure.
- elasticity: Build a best-in-class security system that enables blockchain protocols to adapt to new technologies and evolving encryption policies.
Percoco continued, “We are confident that bringing together the brightest minds in the industry will be effective in combating security threats in the future. As Kraken, we are proud to provide industry-leading cybersecurity expertise in a way that achieves our mission to accelerate the global adoption of cryptocurrency.”
This Crypto ISAC co-founding is the latest milestone for Kraken’s elite security practice, which continues to advance the industry from a cybersecurity and information security perspective. We previously received a CSO50 award for our efforts to combat email phishing practices through platform updates and consumer awareness campaigns.
We recently launched the self-managed Kraken wallet, allowing users to explore the decentralized cryptocurrency ecosystem while protecting their privacy and security. We’ve also introduced multiple options for customers to secure their Kraken accounts using multiple 2FA and passkey options.
