L1 Protocol Saga establishes ‘Saga Origins’, a department dedicated to game publishing

layer 1 protocol death Today we announced the launch of Saga Origins. This game publishing division is designed to usher in a new era in gaming by helping developers deliver innovative and engaging games to a wide audience.

First web3 chain to offer a dedicated game publishing division

The announcement, made at the Saga Multiverse reveal at the Game Developers Conference (GDC), establishes Saga as the first and only web3 chain to establish a dedicated game publishing division.

Saga Origins provides comprehensive support beyond grants

Saga Origins stands out because it offers a comprehensive suite of services that go beyond traditional grant support. This includes partnerships with influencers to drive awareness, sponsored user acquisition campaigns, community building efforts, and promotional support. This holistic approach aims to ease the burden often placed on developers to attract users, instead promising to use Saga’s platform to deliver their games to potential players.

The initiative has already proven its ability to engage the community through Play-to-Airdrop campaigns and reward participation with the coveted $SAGA token.

A notable example is the recent The Three Kingdoms campaign, a collaboration involving major web3 players such as Avalanche, Polygon, and Solana, demonstrating Saga’s commitment to fostering a unified web3 gaming community.

“Saga Origins is our love letter to developers building games on the web3,” said Rebecca Liao, co-founder and CEO of Saga, emphasizing the company’s commitment to supporting developers in the web3 space.

Liao’s vision for Saga Origins is to redefine the gaming experience by enabling developers to create “provocative, expansive, and uncompromising titles.”

The Saga Multiverse Reveal event highlighted upcoming projects and collaborations, including games like Rogue Nation and Another World that promise to leverage the Saga chain’s low-cost, high-performance infrastructure.

This infrastructure is the result of over two years of development, aimed at meeting the specific needs of web3 developers and ensuring the prosperity of the Saga ecosystem.

Expectations for mainnet launch

With mainnet launch imminent, Saga is preparing to significantly expand its ecosystem. This launch is expected to be a catalyst for the Saga economy by bringing a variety of games and entertainment content to life. Anticipation for this event grew even higher with the release of a cinematic trailer that set the stage for its April release.

Saga’s commitment to the gaming industry is evidenced by its growing portfolio of 335 Innovator projects, 80% of which are games. The company has also established key partnerships with leading web3 projects, including Polygon, Avalanche, and Celestia, solidifying its position as a leader in the development space.

Saga is solving critical technical challenges for web3.

Last year, Saga raised a $5 million seed expansion round led by Placeholder, bringing its total capital raised to $13.5 million. This milestone follows a previous funding round in 2022 in which Saga secured $6.5 million at a $130 million valuation, attracting the attention of high-profile investors such as Polygon Studios and Longhash Ventures. This investment round follows $2 million in pre-seed funding orchestrated by Ignite Inc. (formerly known as Tendermint), which was part of an incubation program in late 2021. The rapid integration of financial support highlights Saga’s strong position in the market and its promising future. As an innovator in the web3 space.

At the heart of Saga’s pioneering approach is the development of “chainlets,” custom blockchains designed for specific applications. These chainlets play a critical role in helping developers quickly launch decentralized applications (dApps) and address one of the critical obstacles in the evolution of the decentralized web: the efficient development and scaling of dApps. This innovative strategy not only highlights Saga’s commitment to solving critical technology challenges, but also positions Saga as a leader in web3 technology advancement.

The GDC event was not only a platform for the announcement of Saga Origins, but also a celebration of the future of the gaming industry. With its mainnet launch just a few weeks away, Saga aims to further unite the web3 gaming community, promising exciting developments for both developers and players in the near future.

The company plans to announce its first projects and partnerships, Saga Origins, in the near future.
