Lightning Network – Channel fee update propagation delay expected

If your node is connected directly to your node via a direct channel, you should be able to see the fee change as soon as you attempt to route through this channel.

However, if there are multiple nodes outside the channel, for example, you will have to wait for a path to occur through this specific path before you can see the commission rate you have set.

So if you have a direct connection you can query the fee directly by doing channel rebalancing etc. If you don’t have a direct connection you have to learn the fee rate from the multi-hop path.

I’m sure there are better technical answers, but this is just from my experience.
