Listed stock exchange shares (mid-2024)

It’s nearby 30 listed stock exchanges or other types of listed exchanges (e.g. futures, commodities, etc.) traded in developed, emerging or frontier markets around the world. I’ve seen a lot of comprehensive lists or posts on the internet that include everything potentially available to retail investors, so this post takes a closer look at them all. (Note: I accidentally put this post in the wrong section and failed to email all my subscribers, so I’m re-sending it again…)

Stock and other types of exchanges originated as mutual organizations owned by member brokers. However, many exchanges have demutualized and some have IPOed with shares listed on the stock exchange, including shares they own.

Other exchanges are still unavailable to individual investors because they are owned by large financial institutions or even other exchanges. For example: Zagreb Stock Exchange purchased Ljubljana Stock Exchange From Vienna Stock Exchange (that much Vienna Stock Exchange) owns a 5.3% stake. Macedonian Stock Exchange. that much Vienna Stock Exchange still own it Prague Stock Exchange And it itself is owned by various financial institutions (i.e. retail investors cannot own any part of it directly…).

I would like to point out that the different types of exchanges do not solely rely on trading or IPO-related services. Many other ways to make money Examples: Providing high-margin information or data-related products or services, technology and related services (especially to smaller exchanges), etc.

One last thing worth noting is any Listed exchanges theoretically Clean and clear financial statements and excellent corporate governance. Given the scrutiny from regulators, financial institutions, brokers and investors. In the end, the whiff of a scandal involving an exchange would probably implode the entire market and leave many investors and institutions unhappy…
