ManagePlus – The journey before RISE with SAP and after RISE
RISE with SAP has not only been a major cloud player in recent years, but has also become SAP’s standard cloud offering across a wide range of products.
However, there are a number of things to consider when evaluating what is needed to onboard RISE with SAP. It is especially important to have a good understanding of the RACI split into standard, add-on, and optional services along with the associated Cloud Application Services (CAS) packages.
If you’re wondering whether RISE with SAP is the right solution for you, consider the following scenario:
Data Center Relocation
You are considering ending a data center contract, which could shift IT spending from Capex to Opex or trigger an evaluation of alternative hosting options. This time, a hyperscaler-based journey (Azure, AWS, GCP, IBM Cloud®, etc.). Also consider hardware renewal costs and possible opportunities for on-demand cloud computing.
S/4HANA contract conversion
If you are on a journey to adopt S/4HANA with Greenfield, Brownfield, or Bluefield, with plans to renegotiate and restructure your potential contract with SAP, RISE with SAP is the only contract that SAP (in most cases) offers to its customers. S/4HANA capabilities and the transition to cloud computing.
Realizing true innovation
We look forward to adopting industry best practices along with process mining and process discovery capabilities to simplify and standardize process flows. From a business and IT perspective, this helps reduce cycle times and ultimately increases price per business object.
M&A and sale
There is a potential need to segment IT systems by simplifying the divestiture of company codes and thereby making it easier to separate licenses.
system integration
We want to help you reduce your solution footprint, thereby reducing infrastructure costs and transitioning to a single source of truth across multiple components.
License Audit Blank/Shelfware
You are looking for a long-term solution that is not only subscription-based, but can also address potential compliance gaps.
IT project issues
We want to worry less about physically provisioning capacity within the data center and rely more on onboarding new resources faster in terms of on-demand capacity.
End-to-end security
You must maintain the highest security standards from both platform and application perspectives, taking into account different security requirements.
IT operational issues
You don’t want to deal with the challenges of managing multiple vendors and SLAs.
industry focus
It seeks to address the burgeoning demand for cloud ERP in industries such as healthcare, retail, education, and telecommunications to complement current IT setups and add operational flexibility. Additionally, the core of operations requires industry-specific functions such as automated resource management, sales, and customer support. The image below shows at a high level what is included in RISE.
Above all, SAP “Grow with SAP” includes products, best practice support, adoption acceleration services, communities, and learning opportunities to help you use SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud Edition with modern speed, predictability, and continuous innovation. announced.
What else do I need to know about RISE with SAP?
RISE with SAP includes a number of activities included as part of standard/custom RACI published by SAP. These activities are categorized as follows:
- standard: These are basic activities to maintain the system without additional costs, such as DB, network, platform, and system maintenance. For more information about roles and responsibilities, see here.
- Additional: One-off activities that SAP must perform above the standard level (e.g. additional DR testing)
- optional: One-time and recurring impacts to the solution, such as adding additional memory or upgrading size and scale.
- Cloud Application Services (CAS) Package: An activity that the client can handle within its IT team or with a vendor that was already part of its IT environment. These activities may include supporting customers’ delivery management, release version upgrades, and test management requirements.
Depending on your requirements, you should consider SAP and non-SAP systems as well as additional CAS packages to consider. don’t I would like to include it in the RISE environment. This could be due to a number of reasons, mainly that certain combinations of hardware and DB may not be supported by RISE.
To solve this problem, consider ManagePlus, which maintains similar standards to RISE without some unnecessary incentives. Some other compelling reasons to prefer ManagePlus:
You haven’t decided whether RISE with SAP is right for your business.
- There are a number of additional features that may not be permitted for RISE using SAP.
- You want a single vendor to be responsible for both RISE-based and non-RISE-based workloads.
- I want to move to a cloud service before moving to S/4HANA, but I don’t want to pay twice – once with ManagePlus and later with SAP to RISE.
- We are looking for the same landing zone with predefined architectural patterns leveraged for true hybrid cloud deployments.
As previously announced, IBM® is at the forefront of deploying RISE with SAP as a premium vendor, successfully delivering RISE with SAP from both a cloud provisioning and technology managed services perspective. As part of the groundbreaking partnership with IBM for RISE with SAP, advisory, support and implementation services, including CAS package-related services, have been successfully delivered to global customers.
To add to these great solutions and services, customers are provided with a comprehensive end-to-end solution called “ManagePlus”. This solution solves all of the above problems associated with aspiring to RISE preparation, while still allowing you to decide when to do it. Move to RISE with SAP. ManagePlus also includes SAP and non-SAP workloads that are not present in RISE but can be held to similar standards. Finally, a scenario for CAS package-based scope to support RISE with SAP-based scope.
We support your needs for deploying and managing both SAP and non-SAP workloads, leveraging a master control plane-based approach powered by AI and automation. This allows for a seamless transition across systems, improving mean time to diagnosis (MTTD) and mean time to resolution (MTTR) through a single vendor-based experience. Additionally, the control plane allows you to easily scale to multiple hyperscalers using the same previously established architectural pattern. This provides ease of maintenance and repeatability of effort without having to delve into different integration points between each solution.
The solution brings to the forefront the best in industry best practices, industry solutions, technology core operations, feature migration/implementation, feature/technical application management services, and AI adoption. It helps achieve no-touch and low-touch operating models. At the core of our solutions, we leverage SAP-certified digital operating frameworks to generate insights and reduce noise around the most complex environmental management-based functions.
Below are the benefits of using this solution with RISE with SAP or beyond RISE with SAP.
- Provides a consistent platform for end-to-end system provisioning in less than 3 days.
- Provides a single platform for RISE with SAP-based workloads as well as all SAP and non-SAP systems that use the same standards as RISE with SAP.
- Well-defined CAS packages for system monitoring, job scheduling/monitoring, print setup and monitoring, transport management, ChaRM maintenance and custom add-on management (along with other issues related to DB usage, such as Oracle, DB2 with AIX, etc.) services and other operating systems)
- Improve MTTD and MTTR by 50-60% using AI
