If you are into Bitcoin, mining and DIY projects, check out the Bitaxe open source hardware Bitcoin ASIC miner project based on a single Bitmain BM1397 ASIC chip that can handle hashrates of up to 400GH/s with just 15 watts of power. You may have seen it. The latest Bittaxe Ultra variant with better efficiency at 550GH/s with the same 15W power usage and using a single Bitmain BM1366 ASIC chip (or the BittaxeHex design for 6x BM1366 chips). If you’re not a DIY user looking to solder and build Bitaxe’s open source design yourself, there are already pre-built versions available that you can plug in and use. The folks at D-Central have gone even further and introduced the MiniBit design, which will not only make things easier for the average cryptocurrency user or miner, but also add some style with a mini case like the custom 3D printer S9.
The MiniBit 1397 by Bitaxe is a version of the single BM1397 Bitcoin ASIC that delivers the same performance of up to 400GH/s as the regular Bitaxe, but with more style at a price of $148 USD. It includes a fully assembled Bitaxe v2.2, 15W 5V 4A power supply and Mini-S9 3D printed shell. You can configure it and start mining BTC right away. The slightly more powerful and more expensive MiniBit 1366 Powered by Bitaxe Ultra features a single BM1366 Bitcoin ASIC chip that delivers mining hash rates of up to 550GH/s at the same power usage levels and uses the same PSU and Mini-S9 shell as the MiniBit. Comes with it. 1397. MiniBit 1366 is currently priced at $170.20 USD. You can also purchase the regular pre-assembled Bitaxe for $99.90 or the DIY version for $70.30 USD from the D-Central online store. Please note that we are based in Canada and shipping will be from Canada!
Now, these Bitcoin miners are not meant to be used in mining farms, but by home miners who want to play and experiment with a cheap, not very powerful, but very efficient ASIC miner. . This is not their original goal, which is why there is no talk of profitability or return on investment. Bitaxe’s low power/low hash rate design makes it ideal for solo mining, but can also be used in pools if desired. It uses WiFi for internet connectivity, so it’s almost a self-contained device, so all you need is a cable for power supply. It’s low power and not loud, but you can make it quieter with a cooling fan (hint: Noctua). So Bitaxe is more of a fun Bitcoin mining “toy” to play with and experiment with (remember, it’s also an open source design). Just buy it.
