Cryptocurrency Node Updates

This month, several cryptocurrency nodes were updated to better serve the community. Here are the latest versions and major changes:

Zcash (ZEC) 5.7.0

  • Deprecation of ‘fetch-params.sh’: The ‘zcashd’ binary now bundles zk-SNARK parameters directly, so no separate download or save is required.
  • Improved Mempool metrics: The metrics now include weighted bucket versions called `zcash.mempool.actions` and `zcash.mempool.size.weighted`.

Neuro (CKB) 0.111.0

  • Highlights: This version enables the ‘ckb2023’ hard fork in the development chain. Additionally, the ongoing soft fork activation has begun starting with v0.110.2.
  • Key changes: Numerous consensus changes and RPC changes have been implemented. For example, `epoch_duration_target` now affects the epoch length in dummy mode.

Horizen (ZEN) 4.1.0

  • Upcoming network upgrade: The hard fork of the Horizen mainnet will occur on September 26, 2023 at block #1426200.
  • zen_updatezen_update

  • Implementation of ZenIP-42204: Protected transactions with transparent inputs are removed from Horizen mainchain. This means that Coinbase transactions will continue to mature after 100 block confirmations, but will no longer be protected.

CAS v0.12.14

  • The main feature of this version is an anti-spam patch. To enhance security, we introduce measures against dust attacks.

Flux 6.2.0

  • This optional release focuses on improvements and bug fixes.
  • Release Highlights: This release includes a series of improvements such as optimized Flux node RPC calls, rate limiters, improved DOS protection, and several bug fixes.

2Miners pool co-founder, entrepreneur, miner. I started mining cryptocurrency in 2017 and built a lot of equipment myself. As a result, he gained a lot of practical knowledge and became interested in sharing it with others. In 2Miners’ article, he shares useful tips that he has tried and tested himself. For example, Darek provides advice on how to purchase hardware components for basic mining rigs and how to properly connect them together. He also explained many complex terms in simple words, such as stocks, mining fortunes, block types, and cryptocurrency wallets. After the pool was launched, he published a series of articles called ‘Crypto Mythbusters’, explaining how to protect your network against 51% attacks and talking about the difficulties of cryptocurrency mining and the challenges of launching your own node.
