PixelRealm Launches Ethereum Game on Solana Using Neon EVM

PixelRealm, a Web3 gaming ecosystem, has partnered with Neon EVM to enable Ethereum-based games to run on Solana without recoding. This means developers can deploy their existing Ethereum codebases on Solana, reducing development time and costs.

According to Rootdata, this partnership comes as interest in blockchain gaming is on the rise again, with an estimated $580 million invested by 2024. PixelRealm is backed by Binance Labs and Polygon Studios and currently serves over 120,000 players.

The collaboration will result in a mobile game called Kugle, which features virtual pet collection, NFTs, and a player-driven animated world called KugleWorld.

Steven Leaton, Head of Games at Neon EVM, said:

“Time to market is critical in games. In the gaming space, especially P2E or casual games, time to market is critical and the window to capture player interest is often small. If a game requires significant development and code writing, there is a risk of delays in updates, new features, gameplay, and new content, driving players away.”

Litton added that this highlights the importance of streamlining the development process and making it more accessible to new audiences, something all Web 3.0 game makers should strive to achieve.

Neon EVM is an environment built on Solana’s ecosystem that is fully compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM). It allows EVM-based decentralized applications to be deployed on top of Solana.

Samuel Plesnik, CEO of PixelRealm, emphasized:

“At PixelRealm, our mission is to bridge the gap between traditional gaming and Web3 technologies. Deploying on the Neon EVM network will allow us to deliver the high-speed, low-cost gaming experiences that are essential for mainstream adoption.”

Plesnik concluded by saying that a developer-friendly architecture is needed to create an environment where “EVMs can plug into Solana and play.”
