Privacy – Geographical distribution of Bitcoin users
Geographical Distribution of Bitcoin Users
No one can know the geographic distribution of Bitcoin users with certainty.
For example, users in France can access Bitcoin nodes in the United States. The node may not know your location. Users can also use a VPN to disguise their location.
As another example, how can we collect the locations of Bitcoin users who have moved money to paper wallets and migrated?
The location of a node is not a reliable indicator of your location.
The main goal is to obtain a time series of trading volume by country.
I suspect this is simple. If a user in France and a user in Japan provide 2/3 multi-signature input on a transaction paying someone in Mexico, which country’s volume will that transaction contribute to?
Given my first point, this is debatable anyway.
