Pudgy Penguins sold one million dolls in 12 months, the CEO said.

More than a million Pudgy Penguin toys have been sold in the past 12 months, according to Luca Schnetzler, CEO of the Nonfungible Token (NFT) project.

On May 13, the founder of the popular Pudgy Penguins NFT project revealed that sales soared to more than one million units last year as it continues to expand to retailers around the world.

“Who would have thought that the consumer cryptocurrency revolution would be led by fat, flightless birds?” he exclaimed.

Sales milestone is after May 12th. presentation Pudgy Toys, including Pudgy World, are now available from US retail giant Target.

Pudgy Penguins is a popular NFT collection created in 2021 that includes 8,888 colorful penguin avatars.

The project got off to a rocky start when its former founder became embroiled in rug pull criticism. However, Schnetzler acquired the brand in 2022 for $2.5 million.

Plush versions of the popular penguins were also sold at retail giant Walmart, adding to the success.

The Pudgy Penguin model allows NFT holders to earn a 5% royalty on net revenue from sales of physical products featuring their unique Pudgy Penguin.

According to NFT marketplace OpenSea, the lowest price for the NFT version is 12.87 ETH, or about $37,580 at current prices.

According to OpenSea, the most expensive sale recently was Penguin #6873, which sold for a whopping 400 ETH, or about $1.17 million.

Sales activity for the collection surged in mid-February, reaching a peak of 439 sales per day at an average price of 20 ETH. Afterwards, sales decreased slightly, with about 269 units sold per day as of May 6.

According to NFT sales tracking platform CryptoSlam, Pudgy Penguins is the 12th highest-selling NFT collection in terms of secondary sales worth $2.2 million over the past seven days.
