sensex rises today: ET Market Watch: Sensex and Nifty close in green, RIL caps gains;

Indian markets closed in the green today. Airtel led the gains while RIL suffered losses.

Sensex rose 90 points to 73,738. On the other hand, Nifty closed 31 points higher at 22,368. Sensex hit a high of 74,059 during the trading session.

Nifty moved sideways throughout the session, according to Rupak De, senior technical analyst at LKP Securities. The 22,350-22,400 range is likely to act as a resistance zone. A move above 22,400 could trigger a market rally. Support is located at 22,250. A violation below this could dampen bullish sentiment.

Nifty Realty rose 2.6%, with Sobha, Prestige and Oberoi Realty leading the gains. Nifty Auto, FMCG, IT, Media and Consumer Durables sectors also posted gains in the range of 0.5% to 0.7%.
